The Burnt Sun line is inspired by the written languages of Amharic and Tigrinya, two languages from Ethiopia and Eritrea. Among the countries of sub-Saharan Africa, these two East African nations are two of the few which utilize an ancient written language. Founders Aden Fisseha and Rahwa Assab hail from Ethiopia and Eritrea and take inspiration from our African roots."We felt that the beauty of the distinct, historical alphabet and characters had to be shared with the world and what better way to illustrate the history than through fashion? Their first T-shirt collection features the Amharic word for LOVE, which is pronounced as"fiker" in Amharic. Their new collection features the words addition for "blessed," "fearless," and "beautiful." The Burnt Sun shop is based in Brooklyn, NY.
